In cooperation with HVL and BI, Maritime Bergen launches Next Wave Maritime Leadership Program, a one-of-a-kind executive education program geared towards experienced shipping professionals.
The Next Wave Maritime Leadership Program is a tailormade academic program for the next generation of maritime leaders, developed by the industry and in cooperation with leading professors from various fields from the Norwegian School of Business BI and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, HVL. Partnering with Bergen Shipowners Association, the program will be the first time that BI and HVL cooperate with the industry. The program receives significant financial support from Vestland Fylkeskommune and additional support from Bergen Kommune.
The Next Wave Maritime Leadership Program is a high level, year-long leadership development program aimed at developing maritime leaders in order to tackle the challenges the industry stands before. In addition to leadership development as a core element of the program, the program will dive deep into the industry´s challenges through modules focusing on the green transition, strategic digitalization, diversity as a tool, and innovation and scaling. The six modules will take place in Bergen, Oslo and Haugesund. The program spans from fall 2022 to spring 2023 and will be kicking off 26th of September.
To strengthen the academic program, all Next Wave participants will take part in through Wista´s Maritime MeetUp program to recieve one-on-one mentorship from top industry leaders. As diversity is a core element of Next wave, this is an important partnership. Wista´s mentor program has had extensive success since launching in 2012, and this is the first time the program will include male mentees. There is also a module dedicated to diversity developed through partnership with EY.
The first cohort is fully booked and consists of 24 participants with an average experience of 16,5 years. These participants come from various backgrounds and companies within the industry. This is important as they will also work on various industry cases, where the methodology involves sharing experiences and learning from each other.
