Who is this program for
The program is designed for «Midships». Future maritime leaders with approximately 10 years of relevant work experience, or companies aiming to strengthen its team in the midst of change and a new area.
The participants should have a degree of leadership or result responsibilities in current position, and aspire to take greater leadership responsibility.
The program aims to have a maximum of 25 participants.
About the program
The Next Wave Maritime Leadership program is one of a kind, tailormade, leadership development program for the maritime industry.
This program is designed to strenghen and prepare the next generation of maritime leaders as they face a wave of change linked to decarbonisation, digitalisation and diversity.
During the course the paricipants will receive a tailormade acedemic program pinpointed to the shipping industry. They will also be challenged to work in teams and solve relevant cases from the industry. In addition the pariticipants will receive a mentor tht will follow them throughout the course as well as 1:1 coaching.
This program intends to elevate the knowledge linked to change, and create more visible role-models as we compete to attract the brightest heads from 100% of the talent pool.

This program is designed by the industry for the industry in cooperation with BI, Norwegian School of Business and HVL, Western Norway University of applied sciences.
Together we have developed 5 unique academic modules. Each module is designed to give you the tools to lead your organisation towards a digital, global, diverse and sustainable future. All sought-after skills for future leaders.
In addition we offer a one of a kind module where we put diversity up on the agenda. This module is developed in cooperation with Maritime Bergen, Bergen Shiopowner’s Association, WISTA Norway and EY.
The tuition fee is 75.000,- excl. taxes per participant. Travel expenses comes in addition.

Program overview
2022 – 2023
Leadership
September 22 - Industry in change
The first module will kick off at HVL Campus in Bergen on the 27th and 28th of September 2022.
During this module we will adress the changes we as an industry and world face. The academic program will focus on geo politics and global drivers, as well as change management, challenges and opportunities.
November 22 - Strategy
The second module will take place at BI campus Oslo on the 9th and 10th of November.
During this module the pariticipants will get a tailormade academic program where we dive into the different business models, and explore how to develop based on value proposals and change. We will also explore the role of the management and the board as well as different financial structures.
April 23 - Diversity
The fifth module will take place in Bergen during April of 2023.
During this module we will invite experts to share their experiences and knowledge. We will explore how diveristy works in real life, how to succeed and how to communicate to achieve a desired change.
Industry
January 23 - The green shift
The third module will take place at HVL Campus Haugesund at the maritime simulator centre of the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences on the 25th and 26th of January 2023.
During this module we will focus on the technological and regulatory space, where we dicve into the various technological options. We will also invite leading companies to share how they assess the technology space as well as regulatory requirements driving change towards 2050.
March 23 - Digitalization
The fourth module will take place at BI Bergen Campus on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2023.
During this module we will explore the various opportunities we have with AI and Big Data. We will also have a session on cyber security and how to lead during a digital transition.
June 23 - Innovation
The sixth and last module will take place in Bergen May 31st to June 1st of 2023.
During this module we will focus on how we as managers and future leader drive change and innovation. How can we develop a sustainable business model and how to go from pilot to scale-up.
