Who is this program for
The program is designed for «Midships». Future maritime leaders with approximately 10 years of relevant work experience, or companies aiming to strengthen its team in the midst of change and a new area.
The participants should have a degree of leadership or result responsibilities in current position, and aspire to take greater leadership responsibility.
The program aims to have a maximum of 25 participants.
About the program
The Next Wave Maritime Leadership program is one of a kind, tailormade, leadership development program for the maritime industry.
This program is designed to strenghen and prepare the next generation of maritime leaders as they face a wave of change linked to decarbonisation, digitalisation and diversity.
During the course, paricipants will receive a tailormade acedemic program pinpointed to the shipping industry. They will also be challenged to work in teams and solve relevant cases from the industry. In addition, pariticipants will receive a mentor tht will follow them throughout the course as well as 1:1 coaching.
This program intends to elevate the knowledge linked to change, and create more visible role-models as we compete to attract the brightest heads from 100% of the talent pool.

This program is designed by the industry for the industry in cooperation with BI, Norwegian School of Business and HVL, Western Norway University of applied sciences.
Together we have developed 5 unique academic modules. Each module is designed to give you the tools to lead your organisation towards a digital, global, diverse and sustainable future. All sought-after skills for future leaders.
In addition we offer a one of a kind module where we put diversity up on the agenda. This module is developed in cooperation with Maritime Bergen, Bergen Shipowner’s Association, WISTA Norway and EY.
The tuition fee for 2022-2023 is 75.000,- excl. taxes per participant. Travel expenses comes in addition.

Program overview
2022 – 2023
Leadership
September 22 - A Changing Maritime Industry
The first module will kick off at BI Campus in Bergen on the 26th and 27th of September 2022.
You will gain insight into the changing industry conditions for the maritime industry and implied opportunities and threats. You will learn about competition and cooperation, and how you as a leader can navigate strategically.
November 22 - Strategic Work
The second module will take place at BI campus Oslo on the 9th and 10th of November.
In this module we will take the internal perspective to strategy. You will learn how to create value through business models. You will learn about resources, capabilities and competence.
April 23 - Diversity
The fifth module will take place in Bergen during April of 2023.
During this module we will invite experts to share their experiences and knowledge. We will explore how diversity works in real life, how to succeed and how to communicate to achieve a desired change.
Industry
January 23 - The Transition to Green
The third module will take place at HVL Campus Haugesund at the maritime simulator centre of the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences on the 25th and 26th of January 2023.
This module offer an overview of challenges related to the transition to green solutions. You will learn about flexibility in the development of green solutions, as well as taking a human-centred approach in solutions development.
March 23 - Strategic Digitalization
The fourth module will take place at HVL Bergen Campus on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2023.
This module will build up your knowledge to understand the opportunities and threats of digitalization. You will learn how you as a leader can take advantage of emerging technologies (ie AI, Big Data). You will also learn more about technology management and cybersecurity.
June 23 - Innovation and Scaling
The sixth and last module will take place at BI Campus Bergen May 31st to June 1st of 2023.
In this module you will learn about innovation, how to identify and cultivate promising ideas and commercialize the value proposition. You will learn about strategic trade-offs and how to be attractive to employees and drive change.
